The Charters Towers Move It program is aimed at supporting healthy and active lifestyles by providing structured after school sporting activities for youth at no cost. The activities vary from day to day ensuring local kids are developing their skills and abilities whilst having experiencing new challenges whilst having fun.
Sergeant Paul Ansell who runs the program, introduced the kids to Archery this term “We started off with archery and probably got 15-17 kids come along. A lot of those kids had never done archery and they tried that for the first time. We got lots of comments and there were lots of kids that really enjoyed it, that would never have seen that opportunity.”
In Term 4 the program will be starting off with Touch Football, which is anticipated to be very popular. The Move It Program is held at PCYC on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm during the school term. The activities are designed for children aged 10-14 years.
